Longines Singapore Gold Cup 2015 & Presentation of the new Longines DolceVita Collection‏!

REFINED GLAMOUR AND HEART-STOPPING ACTION ABOUND LONGINES SINGAPORE GOLD CUP
The presentation of the new 2015 Longines DolceVita collection at Singapore’s most prestigious horseracing event added greater significance to  the milestone event.

With a history that dates back to 1924, the Singapore Gold Cup is considered the oldest and most established horse race in the Singapore racing calendar. The thoroughbred horse race is held annually at Singapore Racecourse usually in November and follows the Kranji Mile and the Raffles Cup as the third and final leg of the Singapore Triple Crown. In 2010, with a new partnership with Longines as the Official Sponsor, the Singapore Gold Cup was renamed the Longines Singapore Gold Cup!

On 15th November 2015 – Singapore horseracing circuit saw refined glamour and heart-stopping action at the sixth edition of the Longines Singapore Gold Cup held on 15th November 2015 at the Singapore Racecourse. Presented by Swiss watchmaker Longines, the Official Partner and Timekeeper of Singapore Turf Club, the afternoon race lived up to its promise as a day of unparalleled glamour and excitement both on and off the racetracks.  Guests from the local equestrian community turned up in full force to witness a nail-biting race between 16 jockeys and boldest thoroughbreds as they vie for the coveted prize purse of $1.35 million. In the end, it was jockey R. Shafiq with his winning thoroughbred Cooptado who was the first to cross the finishing line. In addition to winning the impressive prize money, co-owner and trainer Patrick Shaw as well as jockey R. Shafiq were also presented with elegant Longines timepieces.

Over an elegant high tea, Longines’ guests turned up in their Sunday best to catch the prestigious race and to witness the presentation of the new 2015 Longines DolceVita collection. The 2015 Longines DolceVita is a reinterpretation of the popular original Longines DolceVita series, which remains to this day one of Longines’ best-selling collections since its inception in 1997. Meaning ‘sweet life’ in Italian, the Longines DolceVita collection was crafted for the ladies who embrace the joyful, happy and carefree side of life. The 2015 interpretation sports a contemporary design that marries geometric lines with soft curves. The lines of the rectangular case are artfully elongated and arched, some models embellished with diamonds, to enhance the refined elegance and soft femininity of these new pieces.

The theme of the event drew inspiration from the spirit of Dolce Vita; through the pretty whitethemed decorations and Italian-inspired menu, guests had a taste of the Italian high life as Longines transformed the venue into a plush Tuscan garden. Arrangements of fresh white roses, Eustoma, Hydrangeas, Smilax, Matthiola were interspersed with green ivy leaves and vines to create a lush surrounding reminiscent of a beautiful garden in an Italian Versailles.

In keeping to the theme of sweet life, artisanal gelato in a smorgasbord of flavours ranging from Italian Hazelnut, Belgium Dark Chocolate Sorbet to White Chocolate Raspberry were dished out. Cocktail du jour took on a fun twist in the form of popsicles in flavours such as Mojito and Blue Lychee Martini, while Red Watermelon Sorbet with Kiwi Slice and Mango and Coconut Sorbet with Pomelo were hot favourites too.

An equestrian affair is not complete without fancy frocks and fascinators. At the Longines Singapore Gold Cup, refined elegance and equestrian fashion went hand in hand as style-savvy guests stride out in amazing frocks and out-of-this-world fascinators with the best dressed walking away with a prize of a Longines timepiece.

2015 Longines DolceVita: Cased in steel, and sometimes decorated with diamonds, the reinvention of the Longines DolceVita collection in 2015 is created for the women who boast a joyful, carefree attitude and love to wear adornment that reflects their style for a happy and colourful picnic at the racetrack.

2015 Longines DolceVita: A silver-coloured "flinqué" dial adorned with painted Roman numerals and a black lacquered or white mother-of-pearl dial with diamonds decorates the watches of this line. Slender rhodium-plated or blued-steel hands point to the passing hours and minutes.
